Freedom Bakery is a second generation family owned and operated bakery since 1975 - the oldest bakery in the Monterey Bay Area! In addition to a full staff that handles our everyday celebration cake services, we have a Wedding Team dedicated to taking care of our wedding couples and their unique needs, ideas and visions. Paul and Anna, owners
Paul started helping his family business at the age of 10. He started helping out in the bakery washing pots and pans; and eventually moved into learning baking and decorating from his father, Tony. Throughout his college years at Santa Clara University, he continued his craft at the bakery and eventually left the corporate world as a public accountant to take over the family business. Today, he's taken his experience from auditing and project management to ensure the bakery's production, logistic and quality is well managed. Of course a baker at heart, he leads the decorating team and handles all online consultations and as many in-person consultations as he can (schedule permitting). Consultations with Paul is usually to explore and finalize any visions of wedding cake designs or dessert bar visions. His 30+ years experience helps to identify any details our couples may not have considered with any technicality and day of logistics. He runs the bakery with his wife Anna. You might even see their teenage children now working at the bakery on weekends!

Anna married into the family business and will proudly tell you she loves to cook, (as she grew up in a restaurant business) but does not enjoy baking! Total appreciation for what Paul and all the staff at the bakery does, Anna's focus at the bakery is leading the customer service and marketing efforts. Her corporate experience in retail marketing and management has given the bakery a fresh brand since 1975. Her creativity and focus on customer service has lead the Wedding Team to help the couples in the toughest of time during the pandemic. She brings her energy to in-person consultations and loves meeting the couples.

Paul and Anna's individual experiences was a perfect marriage for the bakery. They work closely with the Wedding Team to ensure the couple's experience from the first inquiry to their wedding day is easy and serviced with confidence.

Tania, Lead Wedding Coordinator

From your first communication to your wedding day, Tania is there to take care of all details so you know your wedding day cake is in good hands. She helps you with pricing, tasting, booking, day of delivery and logistics - and always with a smile! She will work with your cake design ideas and, when necessary, offer suggestions on how to stay within budget. She's organized and prompt with her follow ups. She works with our vendors and venues to make sure there is no unexpected surprises on your wedding day. From handling insurance details to wedding cake timeline, Tania takes care of our couples when the couples don't even realize they need taking care of!

Wenona, Bakery Manager

Wenona is a skilled wedding and all occasions cake decorator with experiences in both small and large bakery operations. She works with our production and decorating teams to ensure a smooth process. Her attention to detail is unmatched which results in no surprises for our team when it is wedding day crunch time. A certified Wilton Decorator and ability to manage and identify the strengths of her crew members; she works closely with Paul and Tania to make sure our couples are well taken care of behind the scene. She leads our decorating team on design specifications and needs. She knows her lead decorators' styles the best and assigns them the appropriate cakes to best utilize their skills. With her experience, she makes sure we deliver the best look for each wedding cake the couples have entrusted us to create.

When it comes to decorating skills, this is the duo to watch. Both talented in their own way, steady and intricate is their shared secret. Nina and Jasmine bring distinct touches to create wedding cakes that exceeds our couple's expectations. Their ability to understand space and flow on wedding cakes is the base for them to bring to life wedding cakes our couples dream of. They also love a challenge on decorating unique cake designs with specific themes and details. Working behind the scene, these two cake artists sprinkle the final pixie dusts for the magic our Wedding Team delivers!
